70 Porsches visiting Tivoli

Come in and look at the legends on the Lawn

By Hans Uffe Christensen

Porsche was 60 years last year, which for instance was celebrated at the Copenhagen City-race, Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix. In about a week, there is again a chance to see selected representatives from the south-german brand that has won Le Mans more times than any other manufacturer.
It occurs in the most romantic setting imaginable, namely on the Lawn in Tivoli on Saturday 9 May, where 70 cars arrives at 11.00 to run through the main entrance. The cars cover five decades of brand history, and have in common that they all have air-cooled rear-engine.

A broad exhibition.

“We have tried to make the exhibition as broad as possible within these criteria. There are both Targa models, Speedster editions and, of course coupe-cars,” says Freddie Eriksen, chairman of Porsches 356 Club Denmark.
The club has approx. 160 members. The broader Porsches Club Denmark with 550 members and many newer cars do not participate in the event.
In recent years, there are imported a great many classes classical Porsches to Denmark because of cars over 35 years will have a major discount off the registration fee. Although Porsches is a coveted car, it is not exactly a rare car in Denmark. For five or six years ago an attempt was made to determine the stock. It was then valued at approx. 1500 cars. A loose estimate says that the stock today is a few thousand cars, of which the majority are not organized into a club.
